Submissive Play

Many people describe the submissive play as an act where one person, the submissive, willingly gives control to another person with the goal of satisfying a sexual urge. However, it is important to point out that submission doesn’t look the same for every person.

There are some things you need to know before you dive into the world of dominance/submission.

Educate yourself

Becoming a submissive is not a decision that you should come up with lightly. Before you let your partner dominate you and before you put yourself at the mercy of another, educate yourself on the things that submission is and does to you.

One of a few ways to educate yourself on submission is to attend a “munch”. These are casual social gatherings for people interested in the dominance/submission lifestyle. Here you can learn from experienced individuals and learn more about the lifestyle.

Another good way to educate yourself on this topic are books. There are some excellent books on the topic of dominance/submission, just give it a good search.

Are you really a submissive?

Generally speaking, a submissive person has the desire to please a more dominant person and may even be turned on by the thought of being humiliated or overpowered. But don’t think that all submissives will bend to everyone’s whims in their everyday lives.

Some submissives are individuals in truly powerful positions and simply look for a way to release themselves from responsibilities from time to time.

Now, think about why you really are/want to be a submissive. Is it because you fancy the idea of surrendering to a dominant person? Or is it because your partner wants to dominate you?

You need to have a clear vision of what you want and why you like it so that you can enjoy it at its best.

Communication is key

While communication is important in any kind of relationship, it is absolutely essential in a dominance/submission type of relationship. This is not the time to be shy. If you are uncomfortable with the thought of sharing your innermost sexual desires it can severely affect your safety.

As a submissive, you must be able to openly communicate with your partner in order to achieve a truly consensual experience.

Before you begin a relationship or your scene, you should share your wants, desires, and sexual fantasies. You need to trust your partner and your partner needs to trust you. You cannot achieve this without proper communication.

Familiarize your partner with your limits and set boundaries as soon as possible. Never become a submissive if you feel like you’re being pressured into it.
